Consultant, Independent Contractor with Common Thread Consulting and Carrie Prechtel Consulting. May 2023 - Present.    

  • Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative survey and focus group data; creating educational and promotional materials; synthesizing journal articles on social innovation; planning conferences and work sessions; and assisting with writing grant proposals and reports for nonprofit organization evaluations. Additional independent contracting responsibilities include designing logos, creating style guides, copywriting, building websites, and managing spreadsheets.

  • Teach in-person Spanish classes and private lessons of all levels, including grammar and conversation-based courses.

Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, Financial Assistant. May 2019 - September 2023.

  • Assist with accounting spreadsheets, checking budget statements and transaction reports, compiling information for grants, and office organization.

Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, RPA Project Manager. August 2022 - May 2023.

  • Oversaw the work of all Research Project Assistants assigned by the Stone Center during the 2022-2023 academic year. Liaised with staff and faculty project supervisors to establish and update project goals, mentor students, mediate between RPAs and their project supervisors, and communicate regularly with the Stone Center staff.

  • Designed and taught Intro to Latin America I and II courses, created Canvas courses, coordinated service-learning opportunities with local organizations, held office hours, connected students with the Office of Student Resources, and posted student grades.

  • Assisted with recruiting students for the Internship Program, processing student applications and legal paperwork, registering students, communicating with academic departments, communicating with student supervisors and advisors, creating Qualtrics surveys, editing Canvas pages, syllabus revisions, and teaching the Topics in Community Engagement course.

Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the American University Washington College of Law, Washington, D.C., Program Assistant. January - June 2018.

  • Assisted with recruiting students for the LL.M. in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law; helped professors teach courses online; helped run the summer program; edited websites, flyers, and social media; assisted with official correspondence in Spanish and English; and assisted visiting international experts in human rights with their visa paperwork.

  • Taught an Intermediate Spanish course, designed the in-person lessons and activities, administered and graded exams, held office hours, and evaluated students’ performance in the online platform associated with the course textbook.
